Internet translation of the round table "Access to foreign markets in the WTO.conditions The international legal standard of "civilized business" was held on 23 November 2012 by the International Institute of Management for Business Associations of the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The round table was organized by the Subcommittee on the analysis of the International Law Committee of the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote foreign trade. The technical support provided by the International Institute of Management for Business Associations insured the broadcast via Internet to more than 20 regional chambers of commerce and industry.

The round table was attended by Vice President of the RА CCI Georgi Petrov, Chairman of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee for promotion of the foreign trade, the director of JSC "Russian Market Research Institute," Andrei Spartak, Subcommittee Chairman, President of «Grand & Metro consulting» Michael Green, Director of Coordination, development and regulation of foreign trade activities Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Veronica Nikishina, by other experts.

The event was opened by Michael Green, who noted that the webinar mode allows to monitor and participate in discussions with any specialists from across Russia.

The event participants were greeted by the Vice President of the RFCCI Georgi Petrov. He noted that the current round table is going almost immediately after the meeting of the Security Council devoted to the issue of national security in the context of Russia's membership in the WTO.

One of the key issues addressed at the meeting, was the topic of teaching the Russian business the community norms and rules of the WTO, said Georgi Petrov. Russia now needs professionals who know these rules, able to build their own behavior and their business in compliance with WTO rules.

The Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry does a lot of work in this direction, said Georgi Petrov. He reminded the audience bases of the WTO ¬ most favored national and trade treatment. These principles are fundamental to all WTO agreements. The challenge for the Russian Federation government is to minimize the negative effects of WTO accession, to analyze and assess these issues in sufficiently long period. At this stage, the Russian government has taken certain measures that will mitigate the negative impact to business. Despite this, the Russian business community needs to know the rules and norms of the WTO, concluded Vice President of the RF CCI Georgi Petrov.

For his part, Chairman of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee for promotion of the foreign trade Andrei Spartak noted that Russia joined the WTO in order to use all the features of the organization to complete the work on the market. Today, the country is in the process of building the support system of national export and informing the business community about the norms and rules of the WTO.

In order to increase the competitiveness of domestic business in foreign markets there is a need for the government support measures that are not prohibited by WTO rules and regulations, stated Andrew Spartacus. Later in his speech, he highlighted some of the issues of the interaction of the Customs Union and the World Customs Organization.

Director of the Department of coordination, development and regulation of foreign trade activities Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Veronica Nikishina introduced the audience her views on the development of a package of measures to support Russian exports, noting that there is a need now to require some adjustments to the Russian legislation in this area, as well as to enhance promotion of domestic goods in foreign markets.

The representative of the Russian Economic Development Ministry told the audience about the work done by Russian trade missions abroad in promising areas of their activities. She noted that the trade mission can effectively help Russian companies interested in promoting their products and services in international markets.

The Head of the US-Russia Business Council, Maria Dovguleva and Director for Russia Russo-British Chamber of Commerce, Alan Thompson, introduced the main activities of their organizations and their role in the development of trade and economic relations.

Director of the National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce and Industry Svetlana Derkach familiarized the participants with the unified rules of international standards adopted by the International Chamber of Commerce, as well as with the main tasks of this organization.

The event was concluded by discussion, participants exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
